I was in a panic last week! Spring Break just creeped up on me and I had no plans! Luckily, Alani wasn’t paying attention to the dates either until that Friday after school. “We don’t have to go to school next week Mom! So, what am I going to do?” I knew flying somewhere was not an option as Spring Break weekend calls for pretty expensive flights and I hate waited way too late. So, I googled MUST SEE PLACES IN TEXAS and Palo Duro Canyon popped up.
My eyes have never seen something so glorious! Who knew that right here in our own backyard we had a beautiful canyon?! As matter of fact, it is known as the “Grand Canyon of Texas”. Alani thought it would be a pretty cool trip so we booked a hotel, packed our bags and headed out on a 8 hour drive the very next day!
We played ROAD TRIP BINGO and other fun games that made time go by quickly. On our way there we stopped by Cadillac Ranch which is an art installation in Amarillo, Texas that was created back in 1974! 10 Cadillac cars buried nose-first in the ground that people can spray paint! Super fun!
Afterwards, we headed to our hotels to check-in and have a well deserved dip in the pool! The next morning we woke up around 7am (ate free breakfast at the hotel!) and started our hiking adventure. There were 3 trails to choose from. We chose the most challenging trail. The Lighthouse. A 6 mile hike total. It took us about 2 hours to get to the top. We saw a snake in a tree, hedgehog (i think) peaking out of the ground and many families hiking together. This made me smile. Especially, the little kids who were toughing it out! The final part of hike before getting up to the lighthouse was pretty steep. It was easy to slide down if you didn’t really focus. But once you made it to the top…WOW!
I will admit. I was sad to see so many people turn around and give up when they were so close. I encouraged one couple to push through. 2 hours of walking and you don’t want to see what you came here to see?! They did eventually keep going and were amazed once they reached the lighthouse. I think this was important for Alani to see too. What a great life lesson. Never give up. Life is going to be full of highs and lows, rocky roads and sometimes it gets so tough that you want to give up. But don’t quit, because something glorious is waiting for you on the other side.
It’s always a treat to sit down and speak to Dr. Ian Smith. Today he gave us the scoop on his new book “Shred Power Cleanse!” Have you ever wondering what a cleanse is and WHY it is so necessary? Dr. Ian also talks about the fad cleanse diets and why you MUST stay away from them! Check out our podcast below!
It was a gorgeous Saturday morning to connect with other wonderful Mommies in Houston! The Mommy and Me Vision Board Party and Expo stopped by the Hilton on Southwest Freeway to offer Moms and Daughters a full day of empowerment and inspiration.
I had a blast hanging out with my daughter and teaching others the importance of creating vision boards. What Do you want to feel? What to you want? What do you NEED to tell yourself? These are just a few questions that you MUST ask yourself when going thru magazines to complete your vision board!
I was also blown away by the amazing kidpreneurs that were there! Way to go ladies!
In case you haven’t noticed, collaborating and partnering with others is the new entrepreneurship. But when you really think about it, reaching larger audiences, co-working and sharing your vision and goals with like minded people, it does make sense. Speaker, author and teacher Jotina Buck says in her latest blog ‘Competition is the Old Model, Collaboration is the New Model’ that when working with others, “you have to commit to being a part of something that is bigger than yourself.”
Collaboration is not about losing your identity, but… read more here!

Have you ever gone to get a pedicure and forgot your flip flops? Or wanted to take a shower at the gym but there was NO WAY you were going to put your bare feet on the bathroom floor? I recently tried Skindels Foot Protectors and I think I’ve found a solution to my barefoot phobias!
Skindels are kind of like a second skin for your feet! The sole of a shoe but without the shoe! I like to walk barefoot a lot so I tried them out while taking out the trash and to my delight they were awesome! My feet stayed clean and I don’t feel any dirt on them! I also wore them while cleaning the house! I swept the floor and felt no crumbs on the bottom of my feet! As I mentioned before, these are perfect for the gym, walking to your car after a pedi, at the spa or just in and out of the house, especially in the summer! They are simple to use and very adhesive so they don’t come off while you’re walking around! Easy to pack too! In your gym bag, in the car, or in your purse. If you’re really good you can probably even fit it in your back pocket!
